I hate to write this because previously I was a big fan of nanoleaf, but I'm not anymore. I purchased over $3.5K worth of the canvas lights (2 full hypnotic splat designs and the devious genie design (so 250 panels) after owning the triangle lights for years, but the canvas have been nothing but issues, and nanoleaf's support has been just as bad. I purchased a set of 200 of these lights. The tape that comes with them is absolute garbage. A day after putting them on a regular wall, they started flying off the walls and chipped my baseboard. I contacted support and let them know the tape was faulty and asked if they could send another batch that would work. I was told they can't and don't sell it and that I would have to buy compact tape instead. The rep recommended the poster size tape, which also didn't work. After spending 2 weeks buying 800 pieces of double sided tape upgrading to the medium compact tape and spending just under $300 on it, the canvas finally were on the walls. The larger canvas sets require you to use a wall mount instead of the plug ins. The instructions say to power the unit before installing on the wall, but obviously that isn't possible with these units. Nanoleaf should rewrite the instructions when it requires that the wired / non plug-in power supplies be used, but of course they don't do that. Anyways, my electrician who has experience installing these in the past spent 4 hours installing the power outlets and validated that the correct amount of power was flowing. He plugged in the units and only some would turn on. There is supposed to be a heat map that has squares light up blue where the power outlets are ideal to plug in. That didn't work. I have tried this nearly 100 times and have seen 1 blue square in the entire time. My electrician also tried them, and again he's installed these elsewhere, and he had issues as well. I reached out to support and explained what was going on. Support told me to send them the receipts for my tape and electrician. I spent about 8 hours on the phone with target and lowes and amazon to get these receipts. Sent them to Nanoleaf, who offered me an $80 expansion pack. I asked them why they bothered having me send the receipts if that was all that would occur, and explained that my time is worth more than that, and got no response. After constant resets I finally got these powered on, but received warnings that the lights were at 74% brightness in the app because only 2 units were recognized as powered in, even though 4 were plugged in, the heat map showed 3 plugged in, and all 4 were sending power because they worked when any 1 was individually plugged in. Point being, the app is a joke. It simultaneously recognizes 2 and 3 power supplies plugged in, while nanoleaf says this setup only requires 3 units and sends 4, and states various power requirements at various times. Their support finally reached out and told me that if the light was green that there was too much power running through it. I checked the app and user manual which said green means a "good connection". I asked for clarification on which a green square means (good connection or problem re: too much power) 3 different times. In almost a month later I still do not have an answer. All in all, I am 1 month out and have received little to no help from support outside of them sending an extra control panel from the one that broke due to their incredibly faulty / cheap tape. I have spent nearly $1K extra dollars just on tape and electricians. You can look at the nanoleaf reddit, and you will see that I am far from the only person having issue with the tape and with getting the power working. This was a product that seemed to be rushed out, and which has rampant bugs and even when I have been able to get them working okay they will randomly not turn on and require a full reset. Support won't call you to discuss, and you will end up spending some 40-60 hours getting this thing to work. Do yourself a favor and look at LIFX, who are drastically cheaper and without the headaches. I wrote this long, detailed review to warn you all, because I was once a big fan of nanoleaf and loved their prior products, but this is a miss and you should avoid it at all costs until they have proven they have fixed the rampant issues with the Canvas.
