It's been a pretty disappointing experience. This is now my third controller after less than 3 years. Both times the controllers have failed, it's been for no apparent reason. I've done all the diagnostics and have answered all of Nanoleaf's questions. This most recent time, it involved being passed around to 4 different customer service reps, answering questions multiple times, submitting a video of me trying to reset my unit, long periods of non-responses and then "reminding me" that they are doing me a favor by replacing their faulty hardware. Very unimpressed.
So this is my 3rd controller on my Light panels that I've had to replace. The first controller that came w/ the box stopped working and responding after 2 weeks of use. All attempts to Troubleshoot failed and Nanoleaf made me go through a ridiculous song and dance to replace the part. It was replaced with me paying for shipping.
Now, here I am, less than 2 years later and I'm replacing the controller again. For reasons that aren't clear, it's failed. Totally different location in my home, same failure to troubleshoot and Customer Service has put me through 8 emails, 3 different people, and has been of no help in replacing this. So now I'm paying full price, plus shipping again, to replace a clearly poorly made controller part. If this happens again, I will absolutely dump all of it. It's not worth it. I don't care how aesthetically pleasing it is.
Do better, Nanoleaf.
I like the lights. However I am now on my third controller and it failed within a week of use.
I got this controller as a replacement for another controller that had a hardware defect that cause it to repeatedly revert back to one lighting scene.
That controller was in turn a replacement for the original controller that I got with my Elements, which burnt out and left a concerning black mark on my wall.
This controller (the third one) now appears to have a different and slightly less irritating problem, which is that after being dimmed at night, it will randomly increase the brightness of the panels in the early hours of the morning. Because I don't always wake up in said hours, I don't know how often this actually happens.
I don't know that I would buy *any* Nanoleaf product again. Three defective controllers for one product, and a customer support experience that has consisted of me repeatedly sending emails that go unanswered have really shaken my confidence.
Grateful that you can buy this separately.
