After having this product for almost a year, here’s my thoughts:
TL;DR - Do not buy this if it’s more than $20
- Build quality is cheap (USB-C port sticks out with my replacement unit) and poorly thought out. Weight distribution must’ve never been considered; because of that, lamp easily tips over when upright.
- Capacitive button was a REALLY bad choice. Button features for on/off, brightness and color changing were poorly designed and poorly mapped out for customers to use
- Awful factory reset procedure. Wildly inconsistent whether it works or doesn’t (Had to factory reset both the original and replacement lamps more than 17 times EACH)
- nanoleaf customer service was really unhelpful in troubleshooting as 1) They only responded by email and the back-and-forth took 17 DAYS to “resolve the issue” and 2) nanoleaf customer service forced me to go thru Umbra customer support for the warranty replacement which Umbra wasn’t authorized to do since the Cono Lamp was purchased thru nanoleaf but Umbra customer support helped me with a replacement anyway.
- A deceptively dim lamp even at full brightness
- Battery life is very short
- Matter and Thread connections (On BOTH lamps) are unreliable thus forcing me to use the lamp button since Bluetooth AND the Nanoleaf app weren’t working.
- Despite setting it up in both the Nanoleaf app and Home app for HomeKit, the thread connectivity would drop pretty quickly in BOTH the original unit AND the replacement and never reconnect thus making remote access unavailable.
